Pearl trees
Hi again. I am testing a new Google Chrome app called PearlTrees. If their system works, I should be able to just embed a copy of it in this post below.
A new job, a new start
As I write this, contract details are being finalized for a new job. I’m going to work for Canadian Boreal Initiative, as a First Nations Outreach Coordinator, to help with next stages of the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement. It is a short contract, finishing up at end of April, 2011, but it is a solid, well-paying contract.
I begin September 20th, with first tasks including contacting everyone in the BC-Alberta Boreal region who may be affected by this agreement. The goals will be to make sure they attend an upcoming national conference in Prince George, or at least get their concerns out on the table. The purpose is to begin engaging First Nations across the north, to familiarize them with the contents of the agreement, and to give them space and time to discuss its implications for their Nation.
It is going to be a real test of my ability to network and facilitate, because this is a controversial agreement. However, this job feels right and the timing feels right. I look forward to seeing how things unfold, and seeing how I can help the process along.
Wish me luck!
